The Gems and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or GIT together with the province of Chanthaburi announced their readiness to organise the “International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2020” under the theme “Go Together: Chanthaburi City of Gems” on 18-22 December 2020 at The Chanthaburi Gem and Jewelry Center, KP Jewelry Center and and OTOP Lifestyles shop at Gems Market Srichan Road.
GIT revealed that COVID-19 has disrupted economy and business activities of more than 200 countries. Consumers choose to spend on products that are necessary for them only, which has resulted in the export of Thai gems and jewellery. However, the government realizes the importance of the gems and jewellery industry as they are one of the main export products of the country and continues to promote Thailand as the world’s gems and jewellery manufacturing and trading hub.
The institute has been assigned by the Ministry of Commerce to promote Chanthaburi province as a city of gems, with an aim to support entrepreneurs and community enterprises to be competitive and capable of expanding their business into international markets.
To achieve such goal, GIT has teamed with its partners from both the government and private sectors in Chanthaburi to host the International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2020 to boost the economy and promote consumer’s confidence in purchasing gems and jewellery. It will also serve as a platform for entrepreneurs in the province to present their products to the buyers and will also be an opportunity for buyers to purchase cheaper products.
The event will bring together more than 300 Thai and international entrepreneurs, who will showcase raw gemstones, polished gemstones, jewellery making materials, machines and tools, as well as packaging.
In addition, the GIT will provide a mobile gem and jewellery laboratory services to entrepreneurs and buyers to help build confidence in trading at the International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2020.
